General FAQ

Where can I buy your products?

Most quality truck and RV accessory shops carry our products. You can also find local retailers in Where to Buy.

Will their raise or lower the ride height of my track?

No. kits are designed to work in the original suspension height and configuration. Changes to height can hurt performance or cause parts to be stretched or compressed beyond their capabilities, resulting in premature failure.

Does this allow my track to carry more weight?

Absolutely not. Only the vehicle manufacturer can set the GVWR. Even with the air springs, you have the same brakes, axles, bearings and frame stiffness, which in part determines the vehicle’s load capability. Ride-Rite air springs simply allow you to carry the maximum capacity of your truck more comfortably and without suspension sag or the poor handling that comes with it.

Remember to maintain proper design height. Refer to the installation manual for kit-specific procedures.

How long will the kit last?

The life expectancy depends on a variety of factors, including heat, environmental conditions and how hard you drive your vehicle. Due to the superior construction and rubber compounds, it is not unusual to see the RETRUE air springs last for 4 or 5 years. When they weather-check (or dry-rot), like a tire, they need to be replaced.

Will this make my rough ride go away?

The air helper spring mainly assists with loaded rides. If your vehicle rides rough when empty, it will still be fairly rough even with the air helper spring kits.

Will it work for a lifted vehicle?

We offer the spacer kits for some models. Please refer to the installation guide to check whether it will fit your lifted vehicle.

Where can I buy air line or fittings?

Please contact our customer service to confirm the Part NO.# and the quantity. We will check the replacement parts stock for you. Or you can order them from your local retailer.

Are RETRUE air springs still under warranty if I have a custom application?

It depends on the failure mode. If it's a manufacturing defect, we’ll stand behind our product. However, if the issue is due to misuse or application, such as over-extension, rubbing against other parts, excessive pressure, or other suspension design or fabrication issues, we cannot cover the air spring.

Can I buy directly from RETRUE?

Technical FAQ

Will putting the vehicle on a hoist or two-post lift damage the springs?

No. RETRUE air springs use heavy truck spring technology and can withstand thousands of pounds of pulling force without damage.

Do I need to add an air compressor?

No. The kit includes two inflation valves, one for each side of the vehicle, similar to tire valves. Check your air spring pressure monthly when you check your tires, and use any method to inflate them as you would your tires. But an air compressor will make this more convenient.

Do I have to mount my compressor flat?

No. RETRUE compressors are oil-free and can be mounted in any direction.

Do I need to add a dryer to my compressor kit?

No, intermittent use of our systems doesn't require an air dryer. We recommend creating loops in the air lines to trap moisture and prevent water from flowing back into the compressor head. Refer to the installation guide for examples.

What happens if I over-inflate an air spring by one PSI?

Generally, over-inflating by one PSI will not damage your air springs.

Is it okay to drive loaded at 100 PSI?

Yes. Our air springs are designed and tested to withstand the roughest conditions. They will withstand pressure spikes from driving over large bumps and uneven terrain.

Can I add a “T” fitting to inflate both air springs equally?

Yes, but it will prevent side-to-side leveling and allow air to transfer between sides, reducing stability. For this reason, RETRUE does not include "T" fittings in most kits. If needed, you can purchase a “T” fitting here.

How do I remove my air line from the push-to-connect fitting without damaging it?

Push the air line towards the fitting body, forcing the collet or collar towards it. Hold the collet against the fitting with a 5/16" open-end wrench, then pull the air line out once the collet releases it. My system loses over 5 pounds of air a week. How do I find the leak?

Mix a solution of 1 part liquid soap to 4 parts water and spray it on the air line fittings, air spring, and compressor body and head (if you have an air compressor). If the fittings leak at the threads, tighten them or apply thread sealant. If the fitting leaks at the air line, remove the air line, re-cut it squarely, and re-insert.
